Motorcycle officer hurt when cycle, car collide

ATLANTA (AP) - An officer for Atlanta's public transit system is hospitalized after his motorcycle and a car collided.

Police say the wreck happened shortly before 10 a.m. on Piedmont Circle near Monroe Drive in northeast Atlanta.

MARTA spokeswoman Lyle Harris tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/15Juabc) that the officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with chest pains. Harris said the officer's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The officer's name wasn't released. Authorities say the driver of the car was not injured.

MARTA is short for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
