Where better to find people afflicted with a growing problem known as "collective fatigue syndrome" than New York?

You know you have it if sometimes a friend tells you how they didn't get any sleep last night and you just can't resist telling them how terrible your night was.

Dr. Hal Alpert, a sleep doctor, says some patients talk about their lack of sleep like it's a badge of honor. But he says going without sleep is nothing to be proud of.

Al Pacino's tough character in the film "Insomnia" may have glamorized it. But Dr. Alpert says it can actually be bad for your body.

No matter the health warnings we found lots of people proud of their ability to thrive without enough sleep.

Some twenty-somethings brought sleeping bags to the sidewalk on 5th Avenue. They are sacrificing a good night's sleep to be the first get Apple's newest iPhones.

Tonight before you set that early alarm, consider sleeping in. If not, do your friends a favor and don't tell them how tired you are.
