A strange odor forced passengers on an international flight bound for Detroit to make an unscheduled landing at Dublin International Airport Friday morning.

Officials for Delta Airlines say Flight 143 diverted "out of an abundance of caution to examine the source of an odor in the aircraft."

The flight had departed from Frankfurt, Germany and was scheduled to land at Detroit Metropolitan Airport at 3:45 p.m. ET before flying on to Minneapolis.

The wife of a passenger sent photos to FOX 2 showing men dressed in what appear to be hazmat suits searching the plane's cargo area.

"The flight landed without incident and passengers deplaned normally," officials said in a statement.

Officials did not comment on the cause of the odor.
