A Pontiac man has been charged in the nearly 26-year-old murder of a man whose body was found in a city park.

Oakland County sheriff's officials say 44-year-old Robert Simpson was arraigned Friday on first-degree murder and gun charges in the Nov. 15, 1987 slaying of 33-year-old Isaiah Turner.

Turner was shot multiple times. A passer-by found his body in Kiwanis Park in Pontiac, about 20 miles north of Detroit.

A tip led detectives to reopen the case. Simpson was arrested Thursday afternoon at his home. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 19.

Authorities say Turner previously had been sentenced to one year of probation for a 1989 drug possession case.
