The superintendent for Atlanta Public Schools says that the current principal at North Atlanta High School has resigned.

Erroll Davis posted a letter on the school's webpage announcing the resignation of Dr. Howard Gene Taylor just over a year after taking the position.

FOX 5 News first reported the appointment of Taylor to the position at North Atlanta amid the abrupt removal of the prior school's administration under then interim principal Mark Mygrant.

During Taylor's tenure, he oversaw the school's move into a new 11-story building across from Lovett School.

His last day will be December 1st. Davis states they will immediately begin the search for a new principal.
