Poll: Majority in NJ think Christie eyes 2016 run

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A new poll shows a majority of New Jerseyans think Gov. Chris Christie is eyeing a presidential run, and many believe he's already planning his next campaign.

The Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press Poll out Wednesday finds nearly two-thirds believe Christie wants to run for president in 2016. He's currently seeking a second term as New Jersey's governor.

More than half of the respondents say Christie has the right temperament and experience to be president. But one-third say his personality is wrong for the job and 37% say he's too inexperienced.

The poll shows 61% believe Christie is healthy enough to be president, while 20% say he's not.

The telephone survey of 783 adults was taken Sept. 6-10. It has an error margin of plus or minus 3.5%age points.
