Public hearing set on controversial Gwinnett Co. development

Posted: Updated:

Gwinnett County commissioners could vote soon on a controversial land project. The proposal would build 344 homes in the area near Pleasant Hill and Cruse Roads.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners is holding a public hearing on Tuesday where they could vote in the last step of the rezoning request by Rockland Homes.

Some residents say that the area is already congested and the extra homes would add to the problem. Others have argued that the extra home could cause drainage issues and burden the already over-loaded school systems.

"It's messed up traffic, so to add 300 homes to that, it's going to be worse. I wouldn't want it over here," said Derori Cooper.

The public hearing is at 7 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center on Langley Drive.
