Laguna Niguel, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A suspect was killed in a deputy-involved shooting in Laguna Niguel last night and three other people, including a sheriff's deputy, were injured in a related stabbing attack, authorities said.

The shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Chandon as deputies responded to a report of a stabbing, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, Hallock said. The deputy suffered stab wounds to both arms, he said.

He and the other wounded victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Hallock said.

From Susan Hirasuna:

Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of unknown trouble in a Laguna Nigel condominium complex. When they arrived Tuesday evening,  they found a body stabbed in the street.  What happened next is unclear but the suspect apparently stabbed a deputy in both arms.  And after that witnesses say they heard five to 10 shots.   The suspect, still unidentified was dead at the scene. Two other people were also stabbed and taken with the deputy for medical treatment.

The OCSD couldn't confirm what residents told me,  that the trouble started when the suspect stabbed his mother.   Both supposedly live together in the complex.
