Police, firefighters respond to explosion in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Orlando police officers and firefighters are responding to an explosion at a building at 47 West Jefferson St.  

A spokesman with the Orlando Police Department said it is possible that an explosion was caused by an experimental cooking gas.  Firefighters remain on scene and are working on a "controlled release" of the rest of the gas now.

The owner of the building is listed as Creative Engineering, Inc.   According to the company's website, they design and manufacture highly sophisticated animatronic characters and arcade games.

The building was empty at the time of the incident, and no injuries are reported at this time.

Jefferson St. remains closed to traffic.
