The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary of a DeBary convenience store early Thursday morning in which the thieves used a truck to smash the front doors and then grabbed nearly $9,000 worth of cigarettes from inside.
Investigators have released a picture of the suspects' truck and are asking for anyone who recognizes the vehicle to call the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to an alarm sounding at Lil Sammy's Citgo, 600 S. Charles R Beall Blvd., at about 3:30 a.m. When they arrived on scene they discovered the glass front doors had been shattered.
The store's surveillance video showed that three masked men had used a light colored mid-1990s Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup truck to ram the doors. The men quickly went inside and loaded about 148 cartons of cigarettes into garbage bags. They then jumped into the truck and fled. The damage they caused to the store is estimated at $30,000.
The men had their faces covered with masks or cloths and wore long sleeved shirts. They appeared to be in their early to mid 20s.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS.
Resident can also text a tip by texting "TIP231 plus the message" to CRIMES. Tipsters who provide information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
