TUSKEGEE, Ala. (AP) - Tuskegee police and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a Tuskegee University student at a block party.

Authorities have said 21-year-old Bobby Smith of Mableton, Ga. was shot in the back Friday night and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

WSFA-TV reports a vigil was held for Smith, known as "BJ," who was a finance major and played for Tuskegee's tennis team.

Smith's friends told the television station that he was the father of a baby who is less than a month old.

Authorities are unsure of the shooter's motive.
