Good Day featured the two actors/singers who are putting all their skills together for their new movie, "Grace Unplugged."
James Denton and AJ Michalka talked to Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones.
Grace Unplugged is the story of a woman, played by Michalka, wanting to become a singer. Her father, played by Denton, is a former pop star. With the help of Mossy, her dad's former manager, Grace records a cover version of her dad's old top ten hit, runs off to Los Angeles, and begins to taste the kind of stardom she's always dreamed about. Yet with each rung of the ladder she climbs, Grace feels more and more pressure to compromise her values, further straining her relationship with her parents.
Denton and Michalka talked to Good Day about their characters in the story. AJ related to the character of Grace in the story. She also moved to LA at a young age because of her father's business, and she and her sister had the opportunity to jump into the entertainment field.
Denton was very modest about his own singing. He told Mike and Sheinelle that his singing sounds so good in the movie because of the autotuning and post-effects. However, Mike pointed out that Denton does have his own band called "Band From TV," which is a charity cover band consisting of whatever actor they can drag on stage. Past performers include Denton, Hugh Laurie, Jesse Spencer, Greg Grunberg, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, etc
With her sister Aly, AJ is also working on music with their band 78Violet. The singing duo also appeared on the cover of Icon Magazine.
Grace Unplugged opens in theaters on October 4.
