Tristate region faces remnants of Tropical Storm Karen

Posted: Updated:
The Associated Press - Remnants of Tropical Storm Karen could give the tristate region a soaking.

Forecasters say the storm's track remains a work in progress, but Karen is predicted to lash the northern Gulf Coast over the weekend as a weak hurricane or tropical storm. Remnants of the storm could then track northeast toward New Jersey.

The National Weather Service says there's the potential for heavy rain Monday into Tuesday.

Forecasters say flooding is possibility if 1 to 2 inches of rain falls over a short period of time.

A Point Pleasant resident frustrated with what he sees as slow action on the part of the Borough Council on making the town safer for pedestrians and bicyclists has started a petition urging the council to act. The petition, posted on change.org, said that while the council passed a Complete Streets ordinance last year and commissioned a report, little of substance has been done, Hagemeyer says. The council meets tonight at 7 at the municipal building.
