Quadruple amputee makes high school soccer team

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Jorge Dyksen, 16, has one thing on his mind every time he steps on the soccer field: to score his first goal.

"I've never really scored a goal in my life," Jorge said on Tuesday. He was hoping his time has come.

Born in Panama, Jorge was just one and a half years old when doctors found an infection that caused Jorge's blood to not flow properly to his arms and legs, and had to amputate all four limbs.

He was later adopted by John and Faye Dyksen of Haledon, New Jersey.

"We're very proud of what he's done and been able to accomplish with his disabilities," John Dyksen says.

"Anybody that meets him never forgets him," Faye Dyksen says. "Everybody tells me how much they've been inspired by him."

Today, Jorge uses his prosthetic legs to run and kick the ball on the field. He and his Manchester Regional High School junior varsity team are taking on Pompton Lakes in a game everyone hopes he'll score his first goal.

"I don't care if we're down 2-nothing and he scores the first one. Not only will everyone on the field that day embrace him, but at school it will make him feel that much more comfortable," his coach, Daniel Sanchez, says.

Jorge's story got to the ears of another Panama-born athlete: Yankees star pitcher Mariano Rivera, who invited Jorge out to the stadium for an experience of a lifetime.

When Jorge graduates from high school he wants to become a motivational speaker, he said.

"I want to tell people that I can do things and they should to," Jorge Dyksen says. "They shouldn't give up. I don't give up. I have no arms and no legs. I can do stuff without them."

While the rest of us merely march to the beat of our own drum, Savion Glover is the drum. The tap dance superstar has dazzled audiences from the small screen to the big screen from the White House to the Great White Way. More than just a legend, Savion has become a curator of tap. He is on a mission to keep the craft sacred for future generations.

Burger chain Five Guys is testing the adage that everything tastes better with bacon. It is rolling out a customizable milkshake program and along with bananas, peanut butter, Oreo cookies, salted caramel, you can chose bacon.  Yes that's right: a bacon milkshake.

Like most soon-to-be third graders, Sonja knows what she's looking for when it comes to back-to-school shopping. For kids trying to be fashionable -- and parents looking to keep it affordable -- there's the Ocean County Hunger Relief Warehouse in Toms River, New Jersey. It's basically a huge thrift shop.
