'Breast Cancer Day' forum held at Georgia Capitol

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Breast cancer survivors joined elected officials at the Georgia state Capitol on Thursday to raise awareness about the disease.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Komen Atlanta and the Women's Legislative Caucus took part in the forum at the Capitol to bring awareness to metastatic breast cancer.

The disease is the leading cause of cancer among Georgia women.

The Komen Atlanta Foundation says prevention is key. More than 1,000 Georgia women die of breast cancer every year, according to the group.
