CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Chicago man was ordered held without bond Saturday for allegedly stabbing his child's mother to death and dumping the woman's body in a west suburban forest preserve.

Justino Correa stabbed 20-year-old Jasmin Salas repeatedly in the basement of his home, in the 1000 block of North Richmond, then put a plastic bag over her head, Cook County prosecutors said.He then took the couple's four-year-old daughter upstairs to watch TV and later took the child to school before putting Salas' body in a garbage bag and in a plastic bin, prosecutors said.

Correa allegedly took the body in a truck to River Forest in a wooded area near the 8100 block of West Chicago Avenue.

Correa injured his hand during the stabbing and went to get treated at Norwegian-American Hospital, which is across from his home, authorities said.

He first told police he suffered a cut on his hand after he got into a fight with Salas, prosecutors said. But then he allegedly admitted he murdered her after an argument turned physical.Correa, 19, told police where the body was located, prosecutors said.

When prosecutors mentioned Salas was four-months-pregnant when she was killed, some of her family members who attended the brief court hearing gasped.

Correa appeared in court in a hoodie, sweatpants and a cast on his right arm.

He has no criminal history and had just been accepted to Wright College to study radiology, his private attorney Richard Blass said.
