Shutdown Inspires Kindness From Waitress

Shutdown Inspires Kindness From Waitress

Posted: Updated:

The New Hampshire National Guard is proudly saluting the American Spirit this weekend. They are spreading the word on their Facebook page about a 21-year-old single mom by the name of Sarah Hoidahl.

Sarah is a waitress at a Ruby Tuesday in Concord, NH. It is right near the New Hampshire National Guard Headquarters, and recruiting station.

According to the National Guard Facebook page, Sarah opened her heart to two soldiers visiting the restaurant. It was Wednesday afternoon, and Sarah was serving lunch to the two young ladies, when she overheard them say that they should keep the lunch light, since they didn't have much money due to the government shutdown, and furlough. When lunch was over, instead of presenting the ladies with a bill, she gave them a note.

It said: "Thanks to the government shutdown, the people like you that protect this country are not getting paid. However, I still am. Lunch is on me. Thank you for serving ladies! Have a good day!"
