A popular bar on Wekiva Island caught fire early Monday morning. Police responded to reports of heavy smoke and flames around 3 a.m.
The 2,000 square foot building that lined Wekiva River took about 20 fire fighters from seven different units to contain it. The fire department has deemed the structure totally damaged.
The bar was also a concession stand, which served food, wine and beer. It had become a local hotspot in Seminole county. "[It was an] awesome place to come and hang out," said a lieutenant fire fighter. "The bar itself sat right on the river with an old timey type scene. It was a very nice place to come and visit."
Fire investigators have not yet found the cause of the fire.
