Martin Kilcoyne: You Have The Weather, Give Us Our Baseball

Posted: Updated:

Martin Kilcoyne is the sports director and main sports guy at the Fox station in St. Louis. He came in Wednesday to talk about Game 5 but Steve wasted no time busting his chops about how sensitive Cardinals fans and players were after Game 3.

"Is this about the Mickey Mouse stuff? I don't mind a little celebration but I'm not on the team and the Cardinal players could live without some of that...but I do think tonight the Cardinals, if they were to win, I bet they may be doing that in the clubhouse saying we made the Dodgers disappear."

He also talked about how Dodger fans have a lot more going for them that those in St. Louis.

"St. Louis, this is all we have. You guys have the weather and all the beautiful people...can you give us our baseball?"

Steve also brought up a memory that's haunted St. Louis fans since last season...the team's collapse in last year's series against the San Francisco Giants. Could it happen again? Could they choke and allow the Dodgers to come back and win it in 7 games?

"The difference between the 3-1 this year and last year is the Cardinals lost a game 5 where they could clinch at home...then had to fly out to California and lost games 6 and 7...if they were to lose today they still can go back home. You guys have great pitching lined up and it'd be a lot of fun to see a game 6 or game 7 at Busch Stadium."

Martin also made it clear that it's not just the Dodgers that have celebrity fans rooting for them.

"John Goodman, from St. Louis, Jon Hamm is a huge Cardinals fan. Jenna Fisher, we've got a few that we've given to L.A."
