8-Year-Old-Boy Shot In Chester

Police say an 8-year-old was shot on Thursday afternoon in Chester.

The incident happened on the 500 block of Norris Street at 5:14p.m. When the police arrived at the scene they were directed to a second floor bedroom where they found an 8-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the left buttock.

Police say this shooting accidental discharge while handling a weapon. The victim's family is cooperating with police.

Chester Police say a 19-year-old family member was taken into custody and will be charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Receiving Stolen Property.

Detectives on the scene recovered a 9mm Ruger.

The 8-year was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center where he is being treated for the non-life threatening injury.
