Teenager Dead After Shooting In Frankford

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police are looking for suspects in the shooting death of a teenager in Frankford, and they left a big clue behind.

The shooting happened broad daylight as kids were walking home from school Monday afternoon.

It left a 19-year-old man dead and police searching for two men who took off from the scene.

Shots rang out as Derek, a 13-year- old neighborhood boy was on his way home from school.

"I heard pop. pop. pop. And I just ran and everybody just ran and someone said someone got shot," Derek said. "I was just scared for my safety because I just wanted to make sure where the gunshots were coming from."

Police say two men approached a 19-year-old man outside this row home and opened fire. The teenager was shot three times. Police rushed him to Temple University Hospital where he died a short time later.

The 2 men hopped into a stolen gold Honda Accord but crashed into another seconds later. The men ditched the car and took off.

Neighbors say crime in the area is on the upswing, but the mid-day shooting took the violence to another level.

"My kids stay in the house they don't even come outside they don't' come out. They go to the store they come back in the house that's it," Tayliene Fruster said.

Police are looking at surveillance video from a nearby convenience store. They're also looking through a cell phone that was left behind in the car. So far they have no suspects.
