The 310-degree haircut

The 310-degree haircut

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

It's a new hot trend, literally: 310 degrees, the temperature of the blades of the scissors that stylist Arsen Gurgov of the Louis Licari Salon promises can deliver a healthier haircut.

While traditional wisdom says that heat damages hair, Gurgov claims these scissors get rid of damage and keeps split ends away longer.

But turning the heat up on you cut will also ratchet up the price a lot. At Louis Licari the hot haircut costs $350, about $100 more than they charge for cut with old faithful.

Crystal Mace was willing to pony up the cash. Her justification is that it feels like it can last longer and she won't need a trim in 6 weeks.

Yes, some may think it's a bit gimmicky, but the hot scissor treatment is far from sizzling out.

While Gurgov was on the cutting edge of the trend so to speak it's slowly showing up on salon menus around the city and the country.
