'Work To Ride' Polo Team Plays On As Some Advance To College

PHILADELPHIA -

From time to time on "Good Day Philadelphia," we've talked about the "Work to Ride" program here in Philly. It's a program that takes kids from often tough areas of the city and they learn how to play polo in Fairmount Park.

Many of the kids who have played on the team are now in college. They were the first African-American polo team in the country. And now, there's a new class.

On Wednesday night, there was a very nice fundraiser for them at Boyds Philadelphia. Proceeds from sales went to the Work to Ride program. In order to ride, they have to work in school with good grades and help with the horses.

There's a new line of clothing called "Pyscho Bunny." They too are taking part, where if you buy anything from their line 15 percent goes to our Philly kids.

It is amazing how volunteers have used horseback riding to engage these kids and keep them on the right track, FOX 29's Sheinelle Jones said.
