Connor Reinman was 16 years old when he wrote a symphony for his fellow orchestra classmates at Grosse Pointe South High School to play.

"This is the first time in fourteen years any student has submitted a symphony to be performed by classmates," says James Gross, the class's teacher.

Connor has written pieces before, but a complete symphony for the entire orchestra has never been done by a student before.

"I wasn't expecting it to be as warmly received as it was. It is a little different; modern music tends to be a bit more avant garde, but this is very classic," Reinman says.

His work will be performed at the Oktoberfest this Saturday in the school's gymnasium.
