Shocking new video is going viral this morning. It shows how different a model looks after being given the Photoshop treatment
The video starts with the model posing in nothing but red bikini bottoms. She has on light makeup, and otherwise looks plain. Hair and makeup comes in, giving the woman extensions and making her hair look more blonde. Then a photo editor tweaks the photo further, making her eyes bigger, extending her head and legs and slimming her body fat.
The final result is a woman who doesn't look anything like the person who walked into the photo shoot.
This video was originally created in 2011 by Globaldemocracy.com. According to the site:
Airbrushing as a practice should be discouraged when it transforms otherwise permanent features on models. A "mandatory disclaimer" to state that a model has had her physical body manipulated on a computer is a very simple step in the right direction to addressing the harm that we're causing.
The general comments on YouTube have been a mixture of humor and shock.
A user by the name of "iLyChocolate14" said, "WOW That is so awesome that technology can do all that nowadays! Although this was really eye opening, there are still a lot of girls who look like her (of course thanks to make up, exercise and diet)."
Another user called "watice," wrote, "While I understand the deception in these practices, it seems a bit of a troll to call this activism when there are so many more urgent & larger issues in the world than this. I guess some care about the poor, some about animals, some about the planet, and some about people being photoshopped..."
