AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) - U.S. Marshals say a man accused of hitting a police officer with a Jeep and fleeing the scene has been arrested in metro Atlanta.

Marshals' spokesman Gavin Duffy says Dustin Michael Thompson was arrested Thursday at a house in Austell - about 15 miles west of downtown Atlanta.

Duffy says an officer was hit on Veterans Memorial Parkway Oct. 29 and the driver fled the scene.

Duffy says authorities tracked Thompson to a relative's house in Cobb County and arrested him on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless conduct, obstruction, and narcotics offenses.

Duffy says Marshals were assisted by the Cobb County Sheriff's office. It's unclear if Thompson has an attorney.
