Police: Man tried to kidnap woman in Brighton Park

Police are searching for a man who tried to drag a woman into a pickup truck Wednesday evening in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood.

The woman, 23, was walking alone in the 2500 block of West 42nd Street when the man got out of a pickup truck and tried to drag her toward it, Deering district police said in an alert.

She was able to break free and ran away, the alert said. The man got back in the truck and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a dark complexion, roughly 43 to 47 years old, with a thick, dark mustache, the alert said.

He was wearing a black skull cap, a dark-colored "mechanic-style" coat, dirty light blue jeans and beige work boots with spots of white paint on them, the alert said. He appeared to be dirty from working, according to police.

A detailed description of his pickup truck is not known, the alert said.

Authorities are urging resident to report any suspicious people or activity to police, the alert said.
