Employee carjacked in Birmingham Seaholm parking lot

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (AP) -- A maintenance employee was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of a suburban Detroit high school.

The man wasn't hurt.

According to Birmingham police, the holdup happened about 4:50 a.m. when the employee got out of his car at Seaholm High School.

Police say someone pointed a gun at the man; demanded his money, cellphone and keys; and fired a gunshot into the air. The victim dropped some items on the ground and ran.

Police say that as the victim ran, he heard a second gunshot and saw two men taking off in his car.

The maintenance employee used a second cellphone to call 911.

One of the suspects is in custody. Police are looking for the second suspect.

Classes were canceled for the day.
