Cobb transit plan gains traction with Braves plans

Cobb transit plan gains traction with Braves plans

Posted: Updated:
COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

With a new stadium planned for the Atlanta Braves in the area, Cobb County must prepare to handle a lot more traffic.

County officials met on Tuesday to look at streamlining traffic on one of the area's busiest roads, Cobb Parkway.

The meeting -- which was scheduled before the Braves deal was announced -- was held to discuss a transit system for Cobb County called the "Connect Cobb Northwest Transit Corridor" project. It's a rail system that would run along U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway) and the city of Atlanta along I-75.

The project has a long way to go and faces many hurdles before construction starts.

Now that the Braves have announced plans to move to Cobb, the project obviously has new energy behind it, which delights transportation officials who have been fighting for these enhancements.
