Man says clothes stolen from Atlanta hospital

A man says his clothes were stolen while he underwent emergency surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Michael Hankins said that when he checked into the hospital, he had to remove his clothes, including his leather boots, jeans and an expensive leather jacket.

"Very expensive, very well-made and I worked my butt off to afford them," Hankins said.

After the surgery, Hankins says he asked for his belongings, but was told he didn't have anything with him when he came in.

"Does it make any sense that I would come into a hospital with nothing but a t-shirt and glasses on," Hankins asked. "If I didn't have family here, I would have had to gone out of the hospital naked."

Hankins says he's also missing his keys and a cellphone.

"I have a years' worth of pictures of my son [on the missing phone]," said Hankins.

In the police report, the officer states he talked to Grady security who said they'd launch an investigation. Hankins says so far he hasn't heard anything from the hospital.

Hankins lives in Sweden but is in the Atlanta area playing with a band called "Naked Truth." He says he wants his things back and he wants whoever took them to be locked up.

"Someone needs to go to jail for this because right is right and wrong is wrong," Hankins said.

Hankins says he has called the hospital every day, but so he still has no idea what happened to his clothes.

A hospital spokesperson told FOX 5's Denise Dillon that they would check on the case.
