Women and binge drinking

MYFOXNY.COM -

A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that millions of women are binge drinking and 70 percent of them are over the age of 26.

We see it reinforced on television. The main character in the ABC TV show "Scandal" is usually seen all alone at home drinking a huge glass of wine after her stressful day. And then there is Hoda and Kathie Lee.

Women are also posting pictures on Twitter and Instagram drinking and presumably having a great time.

The CDC said nearly 14 million women are binge drinking about 3 times a month.

Dr. Harris Stratyner is the vice president of the largest rehab in the country. He does not believe that more women are drinking to relieve stress. He said alcohol is now being marketed to women like never before. He also cautioned women about the health risks of over drinking, saying it can contribute to breast cancer, as well as other cancers, and cardiovascular disease.

President Barack Obama's health care law is enmeshed in another big legal battle after two federal appeals courts issued contradictory rulings on a key financing issue within hours of each other Tuesday. A divided court panel in Washington called into question the subsidies that help millions of low- and middle-income people pay their premiums, saying financial aid can be paid only in states that have set up their own insurance markets, or exchanges.
