CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two new chimps are almost set to call Lincoln Park Zoo home, officials announced Thursday.

Female chimpanzees Magadi, 22, and Cookie, 30, came to Chicago about a month ago from Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, Wis., according to a statement from Lincoln Park Zoo President Kevin Bell.

As their standard quarantine period wraps up, they are expected to to join resident female chimps Vicky and Kibali in an off-exhibit area at the zoo's Regenstein Center for African Apes in the next two weeks, Bell said.

The move is designed to offer all four chimpanzees a larger, more complex social group, the statement said. It will be a family reunion of sorts for Magadi, who is the daughter of Vicky and half-sister of Kibali.

Cookie was a performer and pet chimpanzee before arriving at the Vilas Zoo almost a decade ago, according to zoo officials.

Bell said the chimps have been doing well since arriving in Chicago, and that they had their first full physicals Wednesday.
