Orlando City Soccer to retain Orlando Health sponsorship

Orlando City Soccer to retain Orlando Health sponsorship

Posted: Updated:

We may not officially have Major League Soccer in Orlando yet, but the team poised to be awarded an expansion franchise on Tuesday has retained a major sponsor.

The Orlando City Soccer Club announced Monday that Orlando Health will continue to be the team's primary sponsor after the minor league team's move to the MLS.

Orlando Lions president Phil Rawlins would not say how much Orlando Health paid for the sponsorship deal.

"That's confidential, obviously a contract between the two major organizations, so I cannot comment on the amount of money," said Rawlins.

"It is no different than any other expenditures we do.  It is an investment in the program," said Karl Hodges with Orlando Health.

The MLS franchise expansion announcement is expected to happen at a public event on Tuesday at the Cheyenne Saloon, 128 W. Church St.  There will be music, carnival games and other activities outside on Church Street starting at 5 p.m., with the announcement scheduled at 6 p.m.
