MESA, Ariz. -

Mesa Police are searching for a man who attacked two young boys in broad daylight -- punching one of them.

Authorities say this happened a little before 6 p.m. Monday when the suspect went up to a 10-year-old and 5-year-old at a playground area, punched one child twice and took off with one of their Razor scooters.

"I was just riding my scooter down here.. then I heard that guy scream and then he came right here.. right beside me.. then hit me in the head.. then hit me in the head again, then took my scooter," said Heaven Jensen.

"Thinking about that guy being out there on the streets.. that's just nerve wrecking.. I can't imagine anyone else going through what these kids have gone through today," said Heaven's mother, Jeriline Jensen.

The boys are going to be okay, but they are upset and scared.

Police and witnesses say the suspect acted very erratic after taking the scooter, apparently hitting some of the cars in the Sandal Ridge complex's parking lot.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s.  Authorities and the victims' family are hoping someone in the area saw something or knows the suspect will call the police before he can do anything like this again.
