ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A is husband charged with murdering his entire family. Michael Boyce, 33, was arrested one week ago. Police say he shot his pregnant wife in the head at their apartment complex on Nikki Court in Orange County. She was carrying twins and was about eight months along. One died right away; the other Jael Huntley, passed last night.
The grandparents decided to take Jael off of life support.
"Last night me and my wife did a hard decision and we did it out of love," said Jael's Grandfather Leon Huntley.
Doctors say the baby was born in critical condition and wasn't making any progress the last few days.
"There was a faint heart beat in one of the babies. Jael was born with a heart rate under 100, that is considered quite low," said the baby's doctor at Winnie Palmer Hospital Dr. Gregory Alexander.
Jael's mother and twin brother, died at Orlando Regional Medical Center. A team of doctors at Winnie Palmer Hospital did everything to save little Jael.
"We were very much afraid that his brain had suffered considerable damage and that damage was very likely was going to be irreversible," said Dr. Alexander.
Doctors say the last 24 to 48 hours a respiratory machine was the only thing keeping the baby alive.
"There was no further improvement in his clinical condition and despite of that we continued supporting Jael hoping for a miracle," said Dr. Alexander.
Jael weighed 3 pounds and 14 ounces. He was 7 days old.
"It got to the point where were we going to allow him to continue to suffer? Or does he need to be with his mother and his brother," stated Jael's Grandfather Leon Huntley during a Friday press conference at the hospital.
Through it all Frannie has no ill feelings towards her son-in-law, Michael Boyce who's charged with 3 counts of murder. She says it's because she has Christ in her life.
"Michael I love you and I'm sorry because we both suffered a loss," said Fannie Huntley.
After the baby died the Orange County Sheriff's office charged Michael Boyce with first degree murder. He's being held at the Orange County jail with no bond. He now faces three charges of first degree murder.
