FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida judge has set bail for two teenage girls accused of taking part in the gang rape of another girl, which the attackers allegedly videotaped with cell phones.
Fifteen-year-old Patricia Montes and 16-year-old Erica Avery are both charged as adults with felony armed sexual assault and kidnapping. The Miami Herald reports a judge set bail Thursday at $100,000 for each girl. It wasn't clear when they might be released. They have not entered pleas.
Prosecutors say the pair and three others invited the 16-year-old victim to a house, where they allegedly pinned her down and began punching and kicking her. Authorities say the group refused to stop until the girl agreed to have sex with a 19-year-old man.
Authorities say the victim refused but was eventually raped anyway.
