DETROIT (WJBK) -

U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Josh Munsee gave his family, and Detroit Lions' fans, a heart-warming surprise on Sunday they won't soon forget.

Munsee returned home from Afghanistan early to surprise his wife kids on the field after the first quarter of the team's 24-21 loss to Tampa Bay.

Munsee's family was invited to the game thinking they were only going to only see a video message from Munsee on the Ford Field video screen.

Munsee's message appeared on screen, the crowd roared and Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared on saying, "welcome home, Captain Munsee." That's when Munsee ran onto the field to the cheers of 60,000 fans and the delight of his family.
