Anaheim, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A young man in an SUV "interfered'' with the driver's steering this morning on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Anaheim, causing the motorist to veer off the roadway and crash into a tree, killing the passenger and a child riding in the back seat, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported around 12:40 a.m. on the eastbound Riverside Freeway west of Euclid Street, said CHP Officer D. Howard. The woman driving the car -- 41-year-old Ana Trujillo, also of Anaheim -- suffered minor-to-moderate injuries, the CHP reported.

Mario Lopezalaniz, 25, of Anaheim, died at the scene, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Coroner Division.

Angel Granados, 7, also of Anaheim, died at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, the coroner's office reported. He was riding in a rear seat, according to the coroner's office.

Lopezalaniz "interfered'' with Trujillo's steering "for unknown reasons,'' Howard said. He was riding in the front passenger seat, the CHP reported.

As a result of his action, the driver lost control of the 2003 Isuzu, which "traveled to the right across lanes of traffic for the eastbound SR-91 before traveling off the roadway onto a dirt embankment (and) subsequently colliding into a tree,'' Howard said.
