(WJBK) -

Shinola Detroit is encouraging every American of voting age to spend just ten dollars on December 2, 2013 - otherwise now known as Makers Monday. They say that will pump 2.4 billion dollars into the economy.

"At a time in the holidays where people are looking for discounts we think there's another thing that matters - and this is it," says Jennifer Guarino, Vice President of Shinola Leather Division.

Shinola has a wide variety of products ranging from watches to bicycles to bags, and other companies across the United States have joined in on the movement, too.

You can find a list of registered American-made companies on www.makersmonday.com. If you are an American-made business owner you can also register your business to be added to the list.

You can also browse this list of companies to find those items needing to be checked off your holiday shopping list while knowing you're helping the American economy in return.
