HiDine, New Dating Site Generating Controversy

HiDine, New Dating Site Generating Controversy

Posted: Updated:

A new dating website for women looking for free dinners is serving up some controversy.

It's called HiDine and it launched just last month. The tagline is "Chivalry is Alive."

Here's how it works: women create profiles, where they list foods and restaurants they like.

According to the website:

Believe it or not, you will be spending a large portion of your time eating with your future other half. Having similar food interests can be very beneficial in helping to cultivate a healthy relationship. Agreeing on cuisines, quality of food, and favorite restaurants is a great place to start when meeting new people.

After signing up, it instructs women to "sit and wait" for an inbox from a man who wants to take them out and pay for the meal.

The website says that it aims to pair people looking for love who have similar tastes in food.

While some critics are calling it "sexist" and "politically incorrect," some women say that they're all for it.

In the comment section for the Huffington Post article on this new website, one comment reads, "It's voluntary, so what's the big deal?" However, another reader wrote, "So is this like a supper club or meal plan for women?"

The site is free. Instead, it has the man pay a deposit up front once the date with a woman is confirmed. "[I]t shows the woman that you have a commitment to the date, and that you know how to treat a woman," the site reads.

  • Beautiful Easter Sunday

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
