DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -
It was a packed house Saturday at the Samaritan Center in Detroit as community members gathered to hear Detroit's mayor-elect talk about his vision for the next four years. He'll head to Washington D.C. next week to meet with President Barack Obama.

"There is more than enough money out there to transform this city over the next four years," Duggan said. "But there's not enough money out there if we are on 12 different strategies."

Duggan talked about how he and his transition team have been hard at work trying to get things organized for his upcoming term. He says his campaign slogan was "every neighborhood has a future" and he truly believes that. Duggan has already met with Detroit City Council members and other city leaders like businessman Dan Gilbert. He plans to focus on blight and creating what he describes as "district managers" to oversee problems in specific areas.

Duggan says he will meet with the president and vice president along with other new mayors from across the country. He also talked about the bankruptcy decision that came down last week and how he hopes to preserve retirees pensions as much as possible. Duggan officially takes office January 1, 2014 but he'll have limited powers since Detroit is under an emergency manager.
