FedEx prepares for historically busy 'Green Monday'

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Cyber Monday is typically regarded as the biggest online shopping day of the year. But for FedEx, 'Green Monday' was its busiest shipping day of 2012.

FedEx shipped an estimated 22 million shipments on this year's Cyber Monday. Today (Green Monday), shipping centers all over the country will be bustling with activity as the company tries to keep up with holiday shipments.

More than six thousand planes, tens of thousands of trucks and hundreds of thousands of couriers around the world go into making sure deadlines are met.

FedEx has seen its holiday shipping volumes more than double since 2005.

Fox 2's Robin Murdoch toured one of the companies' facilities in Clinton Township to see what goes into getting that package to your doorstep on time. Click the video player for her special report.
