Universal Studios is adding eight new restaurants to its CityWalk dining and entertainment area in 2014, including a North Carolina-based burger and sushi fusion restaurant.
Universal executives made the announcement Thursday. They also discussed the much anticipated Harry Potter-themed additions to its Orlando park, plus the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Both will open in 2014.
Park officials said "Diagon Alley" and "London" are the latest additions to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and will be located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, which is adjacent to Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, where guests can experience "Hogwarts" and "Hogsmeade."
"I'm so pleased that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proved so popular to date, and I'm sure that the attention to detail in creating the new Diagon Alley area will make this an even better experience," said J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books.
The first of the new eateries, Red Oven Pizza Bakery, has already opened. Other original concept restaurants include Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, The Bread Box, Pranzo Italian Kitchen and the Hot Dog Hall of Fame. A sixth, named The CowFish, is a North Carolina-based restaurant that serves burgers and sushi. Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and Menchies frozen yogurt will also be added.
Starbucks will move and open a 130-seat coffee house.
