Stainless Shirt In Development

Stainless Shirt In Development

Posted: Updated:

A T-shirt designed by a college student could be a parent's dream come true. It's a self-cleaning shirt that's resistant to spills and stains.

The shirt is made of polyester with silica particles bonded into the fibers. The combination makes it resistant to liquid. Therefore, anything that hits the shirt rolls of it like beads of water.

That means that soda, coffee, red wine and ketchup will very likely not stain your shirt anymore!

The designer is also partnering with Vera Wang, so the wearing of the shirt will still feel fashionable.

The inventor says the shirts are safe and won't irritate the skin. It is also washable. He made a prototype and created a page on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter earlier this month.

He has since raised well over $50,000. It has exceeded his original goal of 20,000. Already, people in the comments are asking for kid sizes, tall sizes and different colors too.

One fan name Joseph wrote, "You should make a quick video with the pasta sauce, mustard, ketchup, maple syrup and soysauce. I always seem to get syrup on my shirt somewhere…"

The shirts are expected to go on sale in May and cost about $50.
