Beware of Overstock.com imposters

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

Many use the website overstock.com for online shopping.

The site is so popular, that the Better Business Bureau says lots of sites are using the word "overstock" in the name to confuse you so that you'll buy from them instead of the well-known site.

Several knock-off sites have recently been taken down. There's overstock-close-out-sale and overstock-items. Close, but not the real deal if that's what you're looking for.

If a fake name isn't grabbing your attention, then here's a second red flag: many of them only use the 'Green Dot Card' as payment. That's a reloadable pre-paid card. Once it's used your money is gone. Overstock.com let's you pay with all of the major credit cards, but customer service says: not green dot.

There is a risk of logging onto the wrong site. According to the B.B.B, you might be inputting your credit card info just to have it stolen. Or, if you use the Green Dot Card, you pay and the money is gone. If you do get the product, there's a pretty good expectation that it will not have the quality you are expecting.
