GOING VIRAL: Down Syndrome Student's Acceptance To Clemson University

Posted: Updated:
This YouTube video has received hundreds of thousands of views and is going viral on social media channels today. Rion Holcombe, a 20-year-old student with Down Syndrome, gets a special letter in the mail. After opening it, he realizes that his dream has come true, and he's going to be a college student and a Clemson Tiger! His reaction is priceless!

In one of the comments, Susan Holcombe filled in the viewers with a little more information. She writes, "Thanks for the encouragement. A little explanation for those who find this perplexing....Rion was accepted into a special program called Clemson LIFE. This is an amazing two year program for a small number (15) of young adults with special needs. This isn't a program in which one can earn a degree. Right now, Clemson is one of five universities in SC with a LIFE program. I love that kids like Rion get to experience college life and this type of independence. Proud of my alma mater!"

The Clemson LIFE program is designed for students with intellectual disabilities who desire a postsecondary experience on a college campus.

I met the folks from Gunnar Optiks at CES this year and they had something new to show me. The Intercepts. I have a big head, these are big frames, it was kismet but do they work as good as they look? We'll see.
