Sen. Cory Booker reflects on new role

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM - U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is the new junior senator representing the Garden State.

The former mayor of Newark visited Good Day NY on Monday to talk about his time in office so far.

"I’m the 21st mayor to go from being a mayor to a United States Senator and its nothing but an asset. Back here in Jersey I’m able to work in Trenton, Camden, Jersey City other places in the state. Doing the things I did as mayor. I feel like … I get to be the mayor of all of New Jersey and then go down and fighting in Washington," said Booker.

The Stanford, Oxford and Yale universities graduate says he’s finally learning the tunnels and labyrinths that is the Capitol Hill…

He’s most impressed by the senators who have been there for a while

"My Republican mentor is Corker… Bob Corker from Tennessee… he’s a former mayor. We’ve had a lot of agreement and things we can work on together," said Booker.

There is not much relief in sight for allergy sufferers. Experts say a shortened spring due to the long winter may create a more intense allergy season.  Some allergists say they've already seen a noticeable increase in patients as the weather has gotten warmer.
