CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Freezing temperatures aren't stopping a Minnesota teen from following through on his dream.

Rudy Hummel, 17, vowed to spend each night outdoors in his backyard in Hermantown, Minnesota.

But with the recent snow storm Hummel had to be creative so he made a snow cave. He calls it the quinzhee.

For a bed, he sleeps in his sleeping bag wearing six layers and a wool blacket.

Hummel plans on making it a full year of sleeping outside.

He is also trying to turn his adventure into a way to raise money for charities.
