Expedited screening to be offered Daytona Beach International Airport
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Beginning Monday, January 13, selected passengers at Daytona Beach International Airport will be offered expedited passenger screening procedures by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The new federal risk assessment-based procedures will allow some passengers to avoid some of the time consuming elements of the screening process, such as removal of shoes and belts.
Eligibility for participation in the new screening procedures will be based on information provided to commercial airlines by the TSA on a flight by flight and passenger by passenger basis and will not guarantee expedited screening procedures to eligible passengers at all times, including those passengers who have enrolled in Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Trusted Traveler programs.
However, many DAB passengers will benefit and the new capability could lead to a dedicated screening inspection line at some point in the future.
"We are very pleased with TSA's introduction of these new expedited passenger screening procedures," said Rick Karl, the airport's director.
Karl also noted this new capability will make travel through Daytona Beach International Airport more convenient than ever. Additional information on TSA's expedited screening procedures is available by visiting TSA.gov.
