New Smyrna Beach, Fla. - A Coast Guard boatcrew rescued three boaters Wednesday Morning after their vessel began taking on water 25 miles northeast of Ponce De Leon Inlet.
The men reported the hull of their 23-foot vessel, Mo Money, was cracked, and they were able to make a temporary patch using a life jacket to control the flooding but feared the patch would not hold once they began transiting to shore.
A Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Ponce De Leon Inlet immediately launched and arrived on scene at noon. Two of the men were transferred to the Coast Guard vessel, and one of the Coast Guardsmen went aboard the Mo Money with a de-watering pump. The Coast Guard boatcrew escorted the Mo Money to Ponce De Leon Inlet, and used the de-watering pump to control incoming water on the Mo Money. Both vessels arrived at the Lighthouse Boat Yard in Ponce Inlet around 2:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.
